Sammanfattning : Admission to an intensive care unit (ICU) is in most cases preceded by a sudden illness or trauma, without an opportunity for either the patient or his or her family to prepare themselves for, or influence the location of, a patient’s death. 23. Att skapa rum för reflektion : Systematiska diskussionsgrupper med social omsorgs- och vårdpersonal inom särskilda boendeformer
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate what an intervention comprising systematic discussion groups meant in the context of conflicts and cooperation between social care staff and nursing staff, over a period of 7–15 months. The intervention was carried out in four experimental dwellings in special types of housing for elderly and disabled people and in comparison with four similar reference dwellings. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the practice of haemodialysis and kidney transplantation, the two medical therapies available for persons with kidney failure, from a phenomenological perspective. A basic assumption made in the thesis is that contemporary biomedicine is deeply embedded in the cultural, historical, economic, and political circumstances provided by the particular local, national, and transnational contexts in which it is practiced. 25. Ethical reasoning among experienced registered nurses in relation to communication with severely ill patients disclosing personal knowledge
Sammanfattning : Personal knowledge was disclosed amongst a group of experienced registered nurses in relation to feeding severely ill patients with cancer and dementia (I,II,III), communicating with severely demented patients (IV,V), and receiving group supervision (VI). Principled ethics did not seem an adequate model for describing the ethical reasoning of experienced RNs. LÄS MER
