   Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen är en pionjärstudie om publicisten Ivar Harrie (1899-1973) och hans deltagande i det offentliga samtalet under främst sin tid som chefredaktör på Expressen (1944-1960). Genom att studera de första decennierna under efterkrigstidens offentliga samtal genom att framträdande debattörs texter, belyser avhandlingen central tematik från dåtidens aktuella ideologiska, politiska och kulturella problemställningar, ur ett inifrånperspektiv: Kalla kriget, synen på sexualiteten, kristendom och humansim samt bildningsfrågan.
