  1. 31. Modern inhalation agents and effects of anaesthesia equipment during low-flow anaesthesia

    Författare :Anders Johansson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensive care; intensivvård; Anaesthesiology; humidity and temperature; heat and moisture exchanger; isoflurane; desflurane; sevoflurane; anaesthetics volatile; carbon dioxide absorber; Low-flow; re-breathing circle circuit;

    Sammanfattning : Volatile agents are economically and ecologically acceptable only when administered via low-flow systems. However, sevoflurane degrades during low-flow anaesthesia to compound A, and a high carbon dioxide absorber temperature increases this degradation. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Membrane transport and the human small intestine : Relation to mucosal protection, intestinal anaphylaxis and nitric oxide

    Författare :Tina W. Knutson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; albumin; bicarbonate secretion; carbonic anhydrase; dopamine; duodenum; histamine; humans; hyaluronan; intestinal anaphylaxis; intestinal obstruction; jejunum; lidocaine; LOC-I-GUT; nitecapone; nitric oxide; potential difference; prostaglandins; segmental intestinal perfusion; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : The tightly adherent monolayer of epithelial cells that line the luminal side of the intestine provides a dynamic and highly regulated barrier to the passive and active transport of ions, water and macromolecules. Cathecol-O-methyl transferase inhibition prevents tissue degradation of catecholaminesincluding dopamine and intracellular carbonic anhydrase activity is an important regulator of ion and water transport in the small intestine. 3. 33. Transvascular fluid exchange with application to the brain. An experimental study in cat skeletal muscle and brain

    Författare :Lis Kongstad; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; intensivvård; capillary filtration coefficient; Capillary permeability; reflection coefficient; brain edema; dural puncture; Anaesthesiology; Anestesiologi; intensive care; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This study evaluated transcapillary fluid exchange in the cat brain and in a cat skeletal muscle enclosed in a plethysmograph. A method for determination of capillary permeability (capillary filtration coefficient and reflection coefficient) and effects of transcapillary hydrostatic pressure changes were studied We found that capillary fluid permeability in a tissue can be determined by the capillary filtration coefficient, even when arterial pressure and vascular tone are changed. 4. 34. Pathophysiological and Histomorphological Effects of One-Lung Ventilation in the Porcine Lung

    Författare :Alf Kozian; Göran Hedenstierna; Thomas Hachenberg; Filip Freden; Sten Walther; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alveolar Recruitment Manoeuvre; One-Lung Ventilation; Lung Protective Ventilation; Tidal Volume; Computed Tomography; Tidal Recruitment; Animal Model; Open Thoracic Surgery; Ventilation Perfusion Distribution; Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography; Diffuse Alveolar Damage; Medical laboratory science; Medicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Thoracic surgical procedures require partial or complete airway separation and the opportunity to exclude one lung from ventilation (one-lung ventilation, OLV). OLV is commonly associated with profound pathophysiological changes that may affect the postoperative outcome. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Acupuncture in Obstetrics and Anaesthesia

    Författare :Nina Kvorning; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensivvård; auditory evoked potentials; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; sevoflurane; surgery; minimal alveolar concentration; inhalation; electric stimulation; obstetrics; delivery; childbirth; tender points; maternaty care; anesthesia; analgesia; labor; pregnancy; acupuncture; pain;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the present thesis (I-V) were to evaluate the analgesic and adverse effects of manual acupuncture for low-back and pelvic pain during pregnancy (I) and for labour pain (II-III), and also to study the effects of low-frequency electro acupuncture (EA) on clinical physiological responses to skin incision in anaesthetized patients (IV-V). Acupuncture in obstetric patients (I-III) Manual acupuncture in obstetric patients was found to relieve pain in one prospective randomised (I) and two retrospective (II-III) studies. LÄS MER
