36. Anaesthetists and Professional Excellence : Specialist and Trainee Anaesthetists’ Understanding of their Work as a Basis for Professional Development, a Qualitative Study
Sammanfattning : Why do some anaesthetists perform a better job than others? Why do some trainees grow faster in their professional role than others? These are important questions when the education of anaesthetists is so topical. Research in work pedagogy has shown that competence is related to the way professionals understand their work; the two first interview studies of this thesis are about understanding work. LÄS MER
37. Endothelial function during ischemia-reperfusion and effects of inhalation of nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium is an important regulatory organ in circulatory physiology and plays a central role in the response to acute inflammation and ischemia/reperfusion. Activation and dysfunction of the pulmonary vascular endothelium are closely related to clinical findings of pulmonary dysfunction. LÄS MER
38. Subarachnoid haemorrhage : clinical and epidemiological studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) is a severe stroke that in 85% of all cases is caused by the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm. The median age at onset is 50-55 years and the overall mortality is approximately 45%.Sufficient cortisol levels are important for survival. LÄS MER
39. Tissue Perfusion and Oxygenation Evaluated by Measurements of Tissue Gases and pH. An Experiemental Study
Sammanfattning : Optimum peripheral perfusion, oxygenation and oxygen utilization is a prerequisite for normal wound healing, resistance to infection and cardiac function. The purpose of this study was to evaluate peripheral oxygen utilization by measurements of subcutaneous tissue gases and pH (PscO2, PscCO2 and pHsc) in comparison to established techniques for measurements of periph-eral tissue oxygenation and oxygen utilization in experimental animal models with hyperoxia-hypoxia, acidosis-alkalosis and haemorrhage-resuscitation. 40. Cerebral Protection in Experimental Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation : With Special Reference to the Effects of Methylene Blue
Sammanfattning : Although survival rates are increasing, brain injury continues to be a leading cause of death after cardiac arrest (CA). Permanent brain damage after CA is determined by limited tolerance to ischemia from CA and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as the unique cerebral response to reperfusion after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).
