  1. 11. Post-Dural Puncture Headache in Obstetrics : Audiological, Clinical and Epidemiological studies

    Författare :Bijan Darvish; Anil Gupta; Lars Irestedt; Gunnar Dahlgren; Sigridur Kalman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Accidental dural puncture; post-dural puncture headache; epidural blood patch; obstetrics; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) is the most common complication of obstetric epidural analgesia. The characteristic positional headache, often associated with visual, vestibular or cochlear symptoms, is severe and disabling for the parturient. The diagnosis is clinical without the possibility of confirmatory objective tests. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Effects of anesthesia on esophageal sphincters in obese patients

    Författare :Alex de León; Magnus Wattwil; Ola Stenqvist; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lower esophageal sphincter; upper esophageal sphincter; barrier pressure; obesity; high-resolution solid-state manometry; anesthesia; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Surgery; Kirurgi; Anaesthetics; Anestesiologi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Anaesthesiology; Anestesiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The lower esophageal sphincter (LES) and the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) play a central role in preventing regurgitation and aspiration. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the UES, LES, esophageal (E) and barrier (Br) pressures (P) using high resolution solid state manometry (HRSM). LÄS MER

  3. 13. Microdialysis and Intensive Care. Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Per Ederoth; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology; traumatic brain injury; glucose; glycerol; lipolysis; epidural; postoperative analgesia; experimental pancreatitis; human; blood-brain barrier; morphine; pharmacokinetics; Microdialysis; intensive care; Anestesiologi; intensivvård;

    Sammanfattning : Microdialysis was used to monitor local concentrations of energy metabolites in different organs, and to study the pharmacokinetics of morphine over the blood-brain barrier in intact and injured brain tissue in conditions treated in the Intensive Care Unit. After major abdominal or thoracoabdominal surgery, postoperative thoracic epidural analgesia resulted in higher glycerol concentrations in the deltoid subcutaneous adipose tissue, implying increased lipolysis, on the third postoperative day as compared to intravenous infusion of morphine, possibly due to a locally increased sympathetic tone. 4. 14. Reducing Atelectasis during General Anaesthesia – the Importance of Oxygen Concentration, End-Expiratory Pressure and Patient Factors : A Clinical Study Exploring the Prevention of Atelectasis in Adults

    Författare :Lennart Edmark; Mats Enlund; Göran Hedenstierna; Sten Lindahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesia; general. Lung: Atelectasis; CPAP; Oxygen; PEEP; Ventilation; mechanical; Tomography; X-ray computed.; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The use of pure oxygen during preoxygenation and induction of general anaesthesia is a major cause of atelectasis. The interaction between reduced lung volume, resulting in airway closure, and varying inspiratory fractions of oxygen (FIO2) in determining the risk of developing atelectasis is still obscure. 5. 15. Effects on cardiac output distribution of propranolol, verapamil and epidural blockade during continuous positive-pressure ventilation : An experimental study in the pig

    Författare :Per Elowsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : The blood perfusion of all body regions is governed by local vasoregulation, and systemic humoral and neural impulses provide additional tuning of vascular tone. Is the regulation of circulation centralised or, in other words, is the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) superior to local autoregulation of the perfusion of vital organs? Using the microsphere method and acquired data on the body composition of the pig, it was possible to interpret the absolute distribution of cardiac output (CO) and flux changes between organs and tissues.
