  1. 1. Topography of auditory evoked cortical potentials in children with severe language impairment

    Författare :Inger Tonnquist-Uhlén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Auditory evoked potentials - Brain map - Topography - Child - Languageimpairment - Auditory perceptual disorders;

    Sammanfattning : Development of normal speech and language functions is closely related to normal hearing. However, most children with delayed or disturbed speech development show normal tone thresholds and here the investigation has to include higher levels in the auditory system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Assessment of central auditory functions : methods and applications

    Författare :Mathias Hällgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Central auditory processing is complex and can not be completely evaluated by a single method. This thesis focuses on assessment of some aspects of central auditory functions by the use of dichotic speech tests, cognitive tests that tax functions important for speech processing and electrophysiological tests. 3. 3. Acupuncture in Obstetrics and Anaesthesia

    Författare :Nina Kvorning; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensivvård; auditory evoked potentials; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; sevoflurane; surgery; minimal alveolar concentration; inhalation; electric stimulation; obstetrics; delivery; childbirth; tender points; maternaty care; anesthesia; analgesia; labor; pregnancy; acupuncture; pain;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the present thesis (I-V) were to evaluate the analgesic and adverse effects of manual acupuncture for low-back and pelvic pain during pregnancy (I) and for labour pain (II-III), and also to study the effects of low-frequency electro acupuncture (EA) on clinical physiological responses to skin incision in anaesthetized patients (IV-V). Acupuncture in obstetric patients (I-III) Manual acupuncture in obstetric patients was found to relieve pain in one prospective randomised (I) and two retrospective (II-III) studies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Electrically evoked compound action potentials as a tool for programming cochlear implants in children

    Författare :Andreas Björsne; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cochlear implants; ECAP; Impedance; T-levels; C-levels;

    Sammanfattning : Cochlear implants are generally the best treatment for young children with a profound hearing loss (or worse) when ordinary hearing aids cannot provide enough auditory stimulation. For these youngest recipients, there must be a valid rationale for deciding the level of stimulation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of vestibular evoked myogenic potentials and audiometry for the clinical diagnosis of superior canal dehiscence syndrome

    Författare :Luca Verrecchia; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Often in Audiology and Neurotology the focus is on disorders characterized by loss of hearing and vestibular function. A complementary approach is to look at the manifestations of abnormally augmented auditory or vestibular functions, commonly named auditory and vestibular hypersensitivity. LÄS MER
