  1. 1. Bariatric Surgery Outcomes after Gastric Bypass and Duodenal Switch

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Martin Löfling Skogar; Magnus Sundbom; Ville Wallenius; [2019]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Body composition; fat-free mass; resting metabolic rate; bariatric surgery; obesity; Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass; Duodenal Switch; air-displacement plethysmography; Bod Pod; indirect calorimetry assessment; BAROS; quality of life; weight loss; diabetes; hypertension; dyslipidmia; depression; pain; antidepressants; opioids; complications; healthcare consumption; adverse events; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Obesity is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A BMI >40 kg/m2 shortens life expectancy by about 10 years. The obesity related comorbidities diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and sleep apnea contributes to the increased risk of cardiovascular events. There is also an increased risk of some forms of cancer (e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Heart Valve Surgery Preoperative Assessment and Clinical Outcome

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Laila Hellgren; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Heart valve surgery; magentic resonance imaging; echocardiography; operative mortality; survival; complications; quality of life; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : A more global analysis of the outcome of heart valve surgery is desirable to reflect the actual benefit for the patient. This thesis focuses on the preoperative assessment of the patient, and the outcome after surgery with regard to operative mortality, long-term survival, valve-related complications, and quality of life. 3. 3. Rectal cancer : Aspects of surgery and radiotherapy

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Michael Dahlberg; [1999]

    Sammanfattning : In rectal cancer, local failure is one of the principle causes of morbidity and mortality. The use of radiotherapy as an adjuvant treatment in resectable rectal cancer is extensively studied in order to lower unacceptably high local failure rates. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lung function after cardiac surgery : With special reference to atelectasis and ventilation-perfusion relationships

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

  5. 5. Aortic infections The Nadir of Vascular Surgery

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Karl Sörelius; Anders Wanhainen; Kevin Mani; Björck Martin; Benjamin Ware Starnes; [2016]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mycotic; aortic; aneurysm; surgery; infection; endovascular repair; open abdomen; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Aortic infections are rare, life-threatening and constitute a major challenge in surgical management. This thesis aims to evaluate short – and long-term outcome of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for mycotic aortic aneurysms (MAA) and the subsequent risk of recurrent infections, changes in surgical practice over time for abdominal MAAs in Sweden and outcome for different treatment modalities, as well as the risk of secondary vascular infection after treatment with Open abdomen after aortic surgery.
