Sammanfattning : This thesis explores more-than-human entanglements of contemporary urban environments in order to develop a rearticulation of urban landscapes as spaces decidedly beyond the exclusively human. Taking its cue from the question “How do we live with urban difference today?,” such spaces, the thesis argues, emerge through, as well as change with, a variety of socio-ecological entwinements. Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I investigate the paradoxical characteristics of political struggles that take place in relation to undocumented migrant childhoods. Drawing on ethnographic research in Birmingham, UK and Malmö, Sweden between 2014 and 2017, I take as my starting point the everyday life experiences of children and families who have experienced living under an immanent risk of deportation. Street and market vending has often been studied in relation to neoliberal urban developments. 5. Homeless in 'The People's Home' : Exploring the experiences of 'vulnerable EU citizens' in Stockholm, Sweden
Sammanfattning : Since the early 2010s, Stockholm has seen a visible emergence of homelessness and begging amongst predominantly Romanian citizens, many of whom identify as Roma, who have collectively come to be known as ‘vulnerable EU citizens’. Despite their prolonged presence and a great deal of political attention, there remains a lack of in-depth research into their experiences of homelessness in the city. LÄS MER
