Sammanfattning :
This thesis shows that the urban experience is a fundamental part of the development of the Swedish young adult novel by analysing city representations in Swedish young adult literature from 1890 to 2010. By suggestion that there is a strong bond between the notion of the urban and that of adolescence this study examines continuity and change in representations of coming-of-age, focusing especially on intersections between age, gender, class, ethnicity and sexuality. Sammanfattning :
This dissertation explores the image of the ideal home in Sweden, an idea closely bound to the spatial dynamics of building norms and the outfitting of the domestic household, from the 1950s through the 1960s. By examining official, commercial, and consumer-cooperative ideals of housing and home, I attempt to understand and analyze correlations between various visions of the ideal apartment home and the social, political, economic, and cultural contexts in which they were conceived during the heyday of the Swedish welfare state. The aim of this dissertation is to examine how the concept of home is constructed in novels by Swedish female authors from the early 20th century. This includes analysing how the dwellings of the main characters are depicted and what ideas are expressed concerning practices of the home. LÄS MER

This dissertation deals with two series of radio programmes where listeners’ social and personal questions were answered on the air, broadcasted between 1939 and 1968. This is the period in Swedish history which is usually called the era of the folkhem (“The people’s home”) when social reforms, cultural radicalism and social planning – modernization in the cultural, political and material senses – became a broad project and ideology.
