  1. 1. Cervical Radiculopathy: A Study With Selective Nerve Root Blocks

    Författare :Leif Anderberg; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; orthopaedics; Contrast distribution; Nerve root block; Cervical radiculopathy; Kirurgi; traumatology; Treatment; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cervical radiculopathy is diagnosed by history, clinical examination of the patient and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the cervical spine. In many of the patients undergoing this diagnostic strategy, the nerve root/roots responsible for the radicular pain is difficult to define as clinical examination and MRI investigation does not provide information enough. 2. 2. Surgery and immuno modulation in Crohn’s disease

    Författare :Pär Myrelid; Johan D. Söderholm; Peter Andersson; Rune Sjödahl; Bruce George; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Crohn’s disease; surgery; immuno modulation; complications; stoma; anastomosis; DSS; bursting pressure; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease with unknown origin. This study investigates the combined use of surgery and immuno modulation in Crohn’s disease. The outcome of medication and surgery in 371 operations on 237 patients between 1989 and 2006 were evaluated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Granulopoietic growth factors. Cytokine and cellular regulation of GM-CSF and G-CSF production

    Författare :Stig Lenhoff; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; monocytes; endothelial cells; GM-CSF; G-CSF; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : Granulocyte-macrophage- (GM-) and granulocyte- (G-) colony stimulating factor (CSF) are important cytokines in the regulation of hematopoiesis and for the function of mature blood cells. They are also involved in the cytokine network regulating the inflammatory and immune response. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular targets for glucocorticoids in macrophages: cytosolic phospholipase A2 and cytokine formation

    Författare :Karin Gewert; Infektionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; signal transduction; dexamethasone; cytosolic phospholipase A2; glucocorticoids; macrophages; protein kinase C; mitogen-activated protein kinases; TNF-alpha; IL-1beta; protein phosphatases; okadaic acid; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation has been to study mechanisms by which glucocorticoids inhibit inflammatory processes in vitro. Type IV cytosolic 85 kDa phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) is an important modulator of inflammatory responses that is present in macrophages as well as in other cell types. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Physical activity and the young female skeleton

    Författare :Örnolfur Valdimarsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muskelsystem; reumatologi; Skelett; Skeleton; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Bone mass; Osteoporosis; Young female skeleton; Physical activity;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify the influence of calcium, physical activity and detraining on bone mass and bone size in girls and young women. We hypothesised that calcium intake above a specific level does not enhance the accrual of bone mineral, that exercise predominantly influences the skeleton in the early pubertal period and that reduced training is followed by a loss of exercise-induced skeletal benefits.
