Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages. Sammanfattning : Multiple Myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematological malignancy. It is defined by an uncontrolled growth of plasma cells, usually in the bone marrow. Clinically it is complicated by hypercalcemia, renal failure, anaemia, and bone pain. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The fusion protein AML1-ETO is observed in acute myeloid patients with the chromosomal translocation t(8;21). Cells with this chimeric protein have impaired granulocytic and erythroid differentiation with accumulation of myeloblasts. The transcriptional co-repressor ETO (Eight Twenty One) was identified from the cloning of AML1-ETO. LÄS MER
4. Bactericidal/Permeability-Increasing Protein (BPI) and Proteinase 3: Studies at the Transcriptional Level
Sammanfattning : In myelopoiesis, neutrophils and monocytes/macrophages are formed from a common myeloid precursor cell in the bone marow. During maturation of neutrophils, cytoplasmic granules are formed in the cells and the content of these granules is critical for the function of neutrophils in the first line of defense against invading microorganisms. Sammanfattning : The cells of the innate immune system are essential for the host's first line defence against infection. Among these cells the neutrophil granulocyte has a central role by the production of antibiotic proteins and peptides. LÄS MER
