    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the meaning of Chinese music subcultures, includingChinese metal, rap, rock, and punk styles; and how is the meaning shaped by Chinese participants in the Chinese context, which is represented by the context of Beijing. This project is motivated by addressing the gaps that exist between dominant Anglo-American subcultural theories and explaining contemporary Chinese individuals’ practices.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the public music-making by locals in Holmsund 1850—1980, and to explain the great variety of musical forms in hope to thereby illuminate the importance of local music-making for the workers' musical taste, but also how workers' musical aesthetics were affected by a more general working-class culture. The variety of musical forms is explained according to John Blacking's distinction between change of musical system, and variation and innovation within a musical system. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The point of departure for this ethnomusicological study is the increasing interest in vocal genres and expressions in Swedish folk music milieus from the late 1980s. This “vocal vogue” is linked to the process in which folk music moves from a state of revitalization to a state of established “genre” or subculture/micromusic. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This study is an exploration of the lesbian subculture in Russia focusing in particular on the subculture as a unique heterogeneous space of social interaction and cultural production that is not self contained or isolated from mainstream society, but incorporates a variety of cultural flows and traditions that are a part of Russian mainstream culture, other Russian subcultures, or global cultural flows.     Sammanfattning : För drygt 30 år sedan samlades några uttråkade ungdomar i Hultsfred, Småland och bildade rockföreningen Rockparty. Föreningen byggde upp en omfattande konsertverksamhet och en stark musikscen på den lilla orten. 1986 startade Hultsfredsfestivalen, vilken utvecklades till ett av Sveriges starkaste varumärken.
