  1. 16. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis

    Författare :Mikael Åberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Teet Velling; Björn Dahlbäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue factor; Apoptosis; Migration; Chemotaxis; Simvastatin; Platelet Derived Growth Factor; Cell Signaling; Microparticles; Prostasomes; Trombosis; Coagulation; Prostate Cancer; Breast Cancer; Caspase-3; Caspase-8; NFkappaB; PAR2; Transactivation; Monocytes; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling. 2. 17. Intracellular components involved in parathyroid sensing of extracellular calcium

    Författare :Isaac G. Onyango; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Parathyroid hormone; secretion; Src kinase; ERK; PI 3-kinase; PKC; extracellular calcium; parathyroid cell; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Parathyroid glands are the primary regulator of extracellular calcium ([Ca2+]e). Ca2+ plays a key role in many fundamental biological processes and is also an essential structural component of the skeleton. The parathyroid chief cells detect small changes in [Ca2+]e and respond by altering the secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH). LÄS MER

  3. 18. Host-bacteria interactions : Host cell responses and bacterial pathogenesis

    Författare :Nele de Klerk; Ann-Beth Jonsson; Teresa Frisan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Host-bacteria interaction; Helicobacter pylori; Neisseria gonorrhoeae; Lactobacillus; Epithelial cells; Macrophages; EGR1; Amphiregulin; SabA; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori colonizes the human stomach, where it causes gastritis that may develop into peptic ulcer disease or cancer when left untreated. Neisseria gonorrhoeae colonizes the urogenital tract and causes the sexually transmitted disease gonorrhea. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Molecular biology of Brouton's tyrosine kinase

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Bäckesjö; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :X-linked agammaglobulinemia; XLA; Bruton s tyrosine kinase; Btk; signal transduction; phosphorylation; pleckstrin homology domain; PH; SH2; SH3.;

    Sammanfattning : X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is caused by an arrest in the B lymphocyte differentiation. XLA patients lack mature B-cells and subsequently antibody production. The defective gene causing XLA is the BTK gene, which codes for the protein Bruton s tyrosine kinase (Btk), a cytoplasmic enzyme related to the Src family of kinases. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Studies on the normal and oncogenic signaling networks from the hematopoietic growth factor receptors c-Kit and Flt3

    Författare :Kristina Masson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The closely related receptor tyrosine kinases c-Kit and Flt3 are mainly expressed in hematopoietic cells and are involved in driving cell proliferation and promoting survival in response to growth factor stimulation. Several gain-of-function mutations of both c-Kit and Flt3 have been found in malignancies like acute myeloid leukemia, gastrointestinal stroma tumors and small cell lung carcinomas, and the constitutively activated receptors are very potent oncogenes.
