  1. 1. Signal Transduction in Focal Cerebral Ischemia : Experimental Studies on VEGF, MAPK and Src family kinases

    Författare :Fredrik Lennmyr; Andreas Terént; Tommy Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebral ischemia elicits a wide range of events, including complex activation of various intracellular signaling pathways. This study aims to investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the activation pattern of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) in reponse to focal cerebral ischemia. 2. 2. Protein tyrosine kinases in insulin producing cells : Expression and putative importance for beta-cell function

    Författare :Charlotte Öberg-Welsh; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinase; insulin producing cells; fetal development; VEGF; Src-family; Bsk; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases are of importance for cell replication and differentiation in manysystems. The mechanisms controlling the replication and differentiation of insulin producingcells are unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interactions of Prion Proteins and PrP-derived Peptides in Scrapie infection

    Författare :Kajsa Löfgren Söderberg; Astrid Gräslund; Marcus Fändrich; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spongiform encephalopathy; Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease; Amyloidosis; Neurodegeneration; Cell penetrating peptide; Protein Transduction Domain; Heparan sulfate; Proteoglycan; Glypican; Src family kinase; Fyn; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Prion diseases are fatal and incurable spongiform encephalopathies that occur amongst mammals. The central pathological event is the misfolding of the cellular prion protein (PrPC) into an amyloid, neurotoxic isoform called scrapie (PrPSc). PrPSc is the main, or sole, constituent of infectious prions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biochemical and Structural Studies on the Adaptor Protein p130Cas

    Författare :Fariborz Nasertorabi; Kathryn R Ely; Lars Liljas; Jyrki Heino; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Integrin signaling; p130Cas; X-ray Crystallography; NMR Spectroscopy; Protein phosphorylation; BCAR-1; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Crk associated substrate (Cas) is an adaptor protein that becomes phosphorylated upon integrin signaling and influences regulation of cell processes such as migration, proliferation and survival. It consists of multiple domains and regions that can interact with several signaling proteins involved in different signaling pathways. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genome-wide identification of Grainy head target genes and their functions in Drosophila embryos

    Författare :Liqun Yao; Christos Samakovlis; Ruth Palmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Grainy head; Stitcher; Vvl; wound healing; Tracheal development; Drosophila; utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The transcription factor Grainy head (Grh) is conserved from Drosophila to humans. Drosophila Grh plays important roles in epithelial differentiation and regeneration. LÄS MER
