    Sammanfattning : The etiology of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is unclear. By linking three nationwide medical registries we evaluated maternal and obstetric factors associated with later SUI surgery. Surgery for SUI was strongly associated with vaginal delivery, but not with pregnancy as such. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Acid-base status in umbilical cord blood is an objective measure of the fetus’ exposure to and ability to handle hypoxia. The objective of this thesis was to clarify some of the methodological pitfalls in interpreting umbilical cord blood gases and lactate values at birth. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The efficacy and safety of antihyperglycaemic drugs have been evaluated in one American and one British randomized clinical trial, which have given contradictory results. The positive results of the latter may be more convincing as it included a greater number of patients and as its duration was longer. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) is an effective operations method that successfully decreased the degree of spasticity with long lasting beneficial effects for children with spastic diplegia. Children undergoing SDR are postoperatively in severe pain, a pain related to both the extensive surgical exposure with multilevel laminotomy and the nerve root manipulation. LÄS MER
