  1. 1. Effects of Delayed versus Early Cord Clamping on Healthy Term Infants

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Ola Andersson; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; active management; birth; breast feeding; cord clamping; ferritin; growth; haemoglobin; human infant; infections; iron; iron deficiency; iron deficiency anemia; iron status; morbidity; neurodevelopment; randomised controlled trial; umbilical cord; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study maternal and infant effects of delayed cord clamping (≥180 seconds, DCC) compared to early (≤10 seconds, ECC) in a randomised controlled trial. Practice and guidelines regarding when to clamp the cord vary globally, and different meta-analyses have shown contradictory conclusions on benefits and disadvantages of DCC and ECC. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pitfalls in Interpreting Umbilical Cord Blood Gases and Lactate at Birth

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University, Faculty of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology

    Författare :Parisa Mokarami; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Blood gases; metabolic acidosis; umbilical cord; round-off; delayed sampling; validation;

    Sammanfattning : Acid-base status in umbilical cord blood is an objective measure of the fetus’ exposure to and ability to handle hypoxia. The objective of this thesis was to clarify some of the methodological pitfalls in interpreting umbilical cord blood gases and lactate values at birth. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Acid-base values in umbilical cord blood at birth

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Nana Wiberg; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apgar score; Acidosis; Base deficit; Blood gases; Gestational age; Hidden acidosis; lactate; Umbilical cord blood;

    Sammanfattning : Umbilical cord blood acid-base status at birth gives an objective evaluation of the fetal exposure and response to hypoxia during labor. The objective of this thesis was to elucidate methodological issues associated with interpretation of cord blood gases. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for a wide range of malignant and hereditary disorders. It is yet the only clinically established stem cell treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrasound as predictor of perinatal outcome

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Gisela Ghosh; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Doppler; Ultrasound; fetus; amniotic fluid index; nuchal cord; uterine artery; umbilical vein; fetal growth restriction; umbilical artery; pulsation; pregnancy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the work described in this thesis was to evaluate the value of ultrasound examinations of the amniotic fluid, umbilical cord and blood flow velocity waveform of the fetal and placental vessels as predictors of the perinatal outcome. In the first study, the amniotic fluid index (AFI) measured on admission to the labour ward was evaluated in low-risk pregnancies. LÄS MER
