  1. 1. Regulation of Insulin Secretion in Relation to Nitric Oxide, Carbon Monoxide and Acid alpha-Glucoside Hydrolase Activities

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund Univeristy

    Författare :Henrik Mosén; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endokrinologi; secreting systems; diabetology; Endocrinology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; GK rat; insulin secretion; carbon monoxide; acid alpha-glucoside hydrolases; nitric oxide; heme oxygenase; isoforms of nitric oxide synthase; diabetologi; sekretion;

    Sammanfattning : The main stimulus for insulin secretion is elevated blood glucose levels. In this thesis the aim was to study less well-known systems involved in the complex regulation of glucose-stimulated insulin release, emphasizing the role of the lysosomal/vacuolar system and the associated glycogenolytic acid alpha-glucoside hydrolases, but also the HO-CO and NOS-NO systems. 2. 2. Insulin-like Growth Factor System: functional role and regulation in carcinomas

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Författare :Ann Rosendahl; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; PTEN; Transforming Growth Factor-beta; Insulin-like Growth Factor; Renal Cell Carcinoma; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : The insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system demonstrates numerous actions during neoplastic growth and is therefore an interesting target with potential clinical implications. While numerous studies have established important roles of the IGF system in regulating cellular growth and survival of several tumor forms, very limited reports exist regarding its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). 3. 3. Aiway Mucins: experimental models for studies of secretions

    Detta är en avhandling från Naila Svitacheva, BMC C13, 22184 Lund, Sweden

    Författare :Naila Svitacheva; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cystic fibrosis; bovine trachea; radiolabelling; cell line; primary cell culture; organ culture; mucus; mucin; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Mucins are essential components of the mucosal barrier. The complexity of the airway mucosal barrier is reflected in the lack of specific treatments to block mucin hypersecretion associated with several respiratory diseases such as chronic bronchitis, asthma and cystic fibrosis. 4. 4. Secretory activity in isolated rat stomach ECL cells

    Detta är en avhandling från Erik Lindström, Dept. of Pharmacology, Sölvegatan 10, 223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Författare :Erik Lindström; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endocrinology; Calcium channels; Adrenaline; Pancreastatin; Prostaglandin E2; Galanin; Somatostatin; Histamine; Gastrin; VIP; PACAP; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : ECL cells are endocrine/paracrine cells located in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They are important regulators of gastric acid secretion in the stomach by virtue of their histamine synthesizing and secreting capacity. Histamine in turn stimulates parietal cells to secrete acid. 5. 5. Genetic Factors Contributing to Hypertension. With Emphasis on Hypertension in Type 2 Diabetes

    Detta är en avhandling från Community Medicine

    Författare :Kristina Bengtsson Boström; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; primary care; genetics; Hypertension; type 2 diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : The causes of hypertension (HT) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) are mainly unknown, but they arise from interplay between several genetic and environmental factors. The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether polymorphisms in putative candidate genes for HT increase the susceptibility to HT and/or T2DM. LÄS MER
