    Sammanfattning : Criticizing one-empire approaches, calls to apply much-needed transnational perspectives and methodologies to colonial history have recently emerged. This groundbreaking scholarship has already revealed that the competition between different European empires after 1850 has typically been overemphasized; in fact, a transnational perspective reveals extensive cooperation between the “great powers” of the age, along with myriad examples of exchanges and transfers of colonial knowledge.     Sammanfattning : Based on a study of two Scaninavian development NGOs in Tanzania, this thesis analyzes the construction of 'donor' and expatriate development worker identities and how these are manifested in development aid practice. While the thesis explores the articulation of 'donor' and expatriate development worker identities in a more general way, the identities are analyzed in relation to the policy of 'partnership' in particular: How are 'donor' identities manifested in the practices of development aid? How do they relate to the calls for partnership in which paternalism has no place, where 'partners progressively take the lead' and where communication is open and transparent? The thesis is based on interviews conducted in Tanzania in 1998 and 1999 and on an analysis of policy documents and other texts. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The thesis studies the representation of prehistory as a part of the making and remaking of ethnic identities in Northern Sweden from the end of the 19th Century until today, thus dealing with archaeology and prehistory in relation to issues such as identity, memory and politics.The thesis takes as its point of departure the constitution of a Swedish national identity and memory in the late 19th Century and subsequent decades, followed by studies of, mainly later, representations of Sámi, Kvenish (“Kvänsk”) and North Bothnian (“Norrbottnisk”) collective identities.     Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the conceptualisation of da‘wa, ‘the call to Islam’, of the British organisation the Islamic Foundation, and focuses its 25 years of publication of Islamic-English children’s literature.
