  1. 1. Bone Healing after implantation of bone substitute materials. Experimental studies in estrogen deficiency

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå universitet

    Författare :Sven Öberg; Jan Rosenquist; Ulf Lekholm; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Bone grafts; hydroxyapatite; estrogen deficiency; demineralised bone; bone formation; AAA bone; bone defect; titanium implants; resonance frequency analysis.; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Bone formation and bone healing were studied in the mandible, tibia and skull bones in adult, healthy and estrogen deficient rabbits implanted with different bone substitutes.In the first study an evaluation of the differences in bone regeneration in and around solid (Alveograf *) and porous hydroxyapatite (Interpore 200*) was undertaken. 2. 2. Cytokines and bone : On the role of IL-1 and IL-6 in bone metabolism

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Eva Bornefalk; [1998]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; bone; cytokines; osteoporosis; cAMP; IL-1; IL-6; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-l) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The regulation of cytokine release is unclear, and the mechanism of cytokine induced bone resorption remains to be elucidated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Survival of onlay bone grafts. A study in the adult rat

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine, Faculty of Odontology, Carl Gustafs väg 34, SE-214 21 Malmö, Sweden

    Författare :Monica Gordh; [1998]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rats; polytetrafluoroethylene; artificial; membrane; immunohistochemistry; cortical perforations; bone morphogenetic protein; bone marrow; bone; bone grafts; Odontologi; stomatology; Odontology; skull; tibia;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study onlay bone grafting in the adult rat to improve graft incorporation and perservation of graft size. In 167 adult isogeneic lewis rats, the size maintenance and bone formation at the graft-host interface of uni- and bicortical onlays positioned in various environments and treatments were investigated. 4. 4. Human embryonic stem cells for bone engineering applications

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine, Faculty of Odontology, Carl Gustafs väg 34, SE-214 21 Malmö, Sweden

    Författare :Giuseppe Maria de Peppo; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Human skeleton; bone; bone defects; bone regeneration; regenerative medicine; tissue engineering; biomaterials; scaffold; biocoral; titanium; osseointegration bioreactor; human stem cells; embryonic stem cells; mesenchymal stem cells; embryonic-derived progenitors; osteogenic differentiation; mineralization; immune response; in vitro; in vivo;

    Sammanfattning : The human skeleton represents the supporting structure of the organism and accounts for about 20 percent of the total body mass. Despite its intrinsic capacity to regenerate and self-repair, this ability is limited and repair therapies are needed in a large number of clinical cases. LÄS MER

  5. 5. BMP implants in bone formation. Studies in rabbits and rats

    Detta är en avhandling från Charlotte Jeppsson, Deptm of Orthopedics, Lund University Hospital, SE-221 85 Lund

    Författare :Charlotte Jeppsson; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; graft resorption.; Kirurgi; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; bone formation; bone graft; hydroxyapatite; collagen; bisphosphonate; rat; rabbit; titanium chamber; BMP; TGF-ß;

    Sammanfattning : Bone morphogenic proteins, BMPs, are a group endogenous proteins that are highly conserved through evolution. The amino acid sequences of about 15 different BMPs are now known and recombinant human BMPs are commercially available. Implantation of an individual BMP protein is sufficient to induce bone formation even at a subcutaneous site. LÄS MER
