1. Adolescent self-reported health in the Umeå region : Associations with behavioral, parental and school factors
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of a quantitative and a qualitative study. The quantitative study (articles I-III) aimed to examine how self-reported health in adolescence is associated with behavioral, parental, and school factors. Through a survey directed at all adolescents in grades 7-9, data were collected in 2005 in a region in northern Sweden (n=5060). LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate rules and teachers´ expectations that are described by teachers and documents, what sort of pupils´ disorder that teachers put their attention to, in what way teachers´ are correcting pupils´ misbehaviours as well as how female and male teachers are correcting boys and girls. Sammanfattning : Children in out-of-home care (OHC) have higher risks for developing poorer health and school achievement, being subjected to more abuse experiences, as well as negative long-term outcomes related to occupational performance, socioeconomic status, addiction, and criminality. 5. Caring for people and the planet : preschool children’s knowledge and practices of sustainability
Sammanfattning : Children across the globe today are continuously being exposed to and affected by various kinds of real-world complexities and challenges; however, research on their knowledge and practices in terms of sustainability is limited, in particular with regards to how preschool- and home-related factors are associated with their learning for sustainability. Since 1998, different types of eco-certification have been awarded by the Swedish National Agency for Education and Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation to promote education for sustainability (EfS) in all areas of education and learning.
