  1. 1. Vara - Framträdande - Värld : Fenomenets negativitet hos Martin Heidegger, Jan Patočka och Eugen Fink

    Författare :Krystof Kasprzak; Marcia Sá Cavalcante Schuback; Susanna Lindberg; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Humanities; Fink; Heidegger; Patočka; phenomenology; phenomenon; appearing; appearance; existence; movement; orgiasm; the sublime; sleep; Humaniora; Fink; Heidegger; Patočka; fenomenologi; fenomen; framträdande; sken; existens; rörelse; orgiasm; det sublima; sömn; Kritisk kulturteori; Critical and Cultural Theory; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : The present investigation discusses the phenomenological concept of the phenomenon through an interpretation of the meaning of the negativity of the phenomenon in the philosophical works of Martin Heidegger, Jan Patočka and Eugen Fink. This negativity is thematised in terms of a loss and a privation that leads to a description of the appearing of the phenomenon as a sublime event, which exposes existence to an absence of meaning. 2. 2. The Integration of MILLION into the English System of Number Words : A Diachronic Study

    Författare :Donald MacQueen; Merja Kytö; Raymond Hickey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; number-word universals; historical corpus linguistics; variationist study; American vs British English; newspapers; grammaticalization; iconicity; gradience; English language; Engelska språket; Linguistics; lingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : This corpus-based variationist study traces the history of the English number word MILLION from its first attested use in the 14th century, focusing on the diachronic shift in function from one of heading its noun phrase (NP), as in the obsolescent (Obs) construction three millions of citizens, to one of a post-determiner of its NP head, as in Present-day English (PdE) three million citizens. The authentic historical materials used include both numerous electronic linguistic corpora and, more innovatively, very-large-scale general collections available online, especially historical newspaper collections from the US and UK comprising tens of billions of words. 3. 3. Singular Integral Equations: Applications to Elasticity and Numerical Solution

    Författare :Jonas Englund; Matematik LTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll; fracture mechanics; second kind integral equation; Nyström scheme; Computer science; control; systems; numerical analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to develop stable, accurate, and efficient numerical algorithms for the solution of certain problems in materials science using integral equations. All the appearing integral equations are of the second kind. Such equations are typically well suited for numerical solution. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Perfusion MRI of the brain after radiotherapy in patients with glioblastoma – potential and problems

    Författare :Markus Fahlström; Elna-Marie Larsson; Tufve Nyholm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Perfusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a useful tool in diagnostic evaluation and treatment response assessment in patients with glioblastoma. The standard treatment regimen includes surgical resection, radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy. However, prognosis is poor; relative 5-year survival is 3–5%. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Improved Lp Hardy Inequalities

    Författare :Jesper Tidblom; Ari Laptev; Andrzej Szulkin; Achilles Tertikas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spectral theory; Hardy inequality; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Sammanfattning : Paper 1 : A geometrical version of Hardy's inequality for W_0^{1,p}(D).The aim of this article is to prove a Hardy-type inequality, concerning functions in W_0^{1,p}(D) for some domain D in R^n, involving the volume of D and the distance to the boundary of D. The inequality is a generalization of a previously proved inequality by M. and T. LÄS MER
