  1. 21. Stress-related peptides in suicide attempters

    Författare :Åsa Westrin; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; temperament; cortisol; neuropeptide Y; delta sleep-inducing peptide; somatostatin; beta-endorphin; corticotropin-releasing hormone; hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis; attempted suicide; affective disorders; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : A suicide attempt is the best known predictor of completed suicide. It has long been assumed that most suicide attempts are the results of stress. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Role of Neuropeptides and Neurotrophic Factors in Seizure Modulation

    Författare :Avtandil Nanobashvili; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; brain slice; entorhinal cortex; hippocampus; galanin; glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor; neuropeptide Y; epilepsy; kindling; Neurology; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : The presented thesis explores role of glial cell line derived neurotrophic factor family receptor a2 (GFRa2), as well as neuropeptide Y (NPY) and galanin and their receptors in modulation of seizure activity. We demonstrate that mice lacking the GFRa2 gene (GFRa2-/-) exhibit suppressed seizure generalization in traditional and rapid kindling models. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Neuropeptides and neurotrophic factors in epilepsy: seizure suppressant actions of VEGF, NPY and galanin

    Författare :Litsa Nikitidou; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epilepsy; Gene Therapy; Neuropeptide Y; Y2 receptor; Y5 receptor; Galanin; Encapsulated cell biodelivery; Vascular endothelial growth factor; Flk-1; Hippocampus;

    Sammanfattning : Epilepsy is a severe chronic neurological disorder, affecting about 1% of the population. The disease is manifested by spontaneous recurrent seizures, caused by hypersynchronized neuronal activity due to imbalance in the brain between the inhibition and excitation. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Computational Modelling of Ligand Complexes with G-Protein Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels and Enzymes

    Författare :Lars Boukharta; Johan Åqvist; Christopher A. Reynolds; Uppsala universitet; []
