  1. 16. Development and application of strategies for the analysis of modification patterns in chondroitin and dermatan sulphate

    Författare :Fang Cheng; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; reumatologi; muskelsystem; Skelett; Glycosaminoglycan; Proteoglycan; Chondroitin sulphate; dermatan sulphate; Sequencing analysis; Modification pattern.; Skeleton; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Chondroitin (CS) and dermatan sulphate (DS) are socalled glycosaminoglycans (GAG) that are covalently attached to various type of proteins forming a subgroup within the diverse proteoglycan (PG) family. The PGs studied in this thesis are mostly extracellularly located and include aggrecan, biglycan and decorin. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The collagen fibrillar network: Sequential degradation of its constituents by tissue metalloproteinases

    Författare :Terrence Heathfield; Enheten för led- och mjukvävnadsforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metabolism; Metabolism; Biochemistry; collagen; fibromodulin; cartilage; osteoarthritis; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The cartilage matrix is made up of a fibrillar meshwork comprising type II collagen and other associated proteins. One main function of this network is to retain the large aggregating proteoglycan, aggrecan, a vital component in the regulation of fluid flux in cartilage. LÄS MER

  3. 18. A kinetic study of metabolite transfer in coupled two-enzyme reactions

    Författare :Henrik Pettersson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metabolism; Free diffusion; Enzyme kinetics; Channelling; Dehydrogenase; Fusion protein; Biochemistry; Proximity effect; metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : There are two fundamentally different ways by which a metabolite can be transferred between enzymes in metabolic pathways. If the two sequential enzymes cannot form a complex with each other, the metabolite must first be released from the producing enzyme to the reaction medium and then be transported to the consuming enzyme, via the reaction medium, by free diffusion. 4. 19. Sources of Arachidonic Acid in Platelets, Bone, Marrow and Gastrointestinal Tract

    Författare :Li Zhou; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phospholipids; Megakaryocyte; Lysophosphatidylcholine; Lipoproteins; Linoleic acid; Intralipid; Interconversion; Gastrointestinal tract; Plasma free fatty acids; Fasting; Dietary fatty acids; Desaturase; Cholesterol; Chylomicron remnant; Chylomicron; Arachidonic acid; Bone marrow; Platelets; Protein S; Prothrombin; Triglycerides.; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates pathways by which the eicosanoid precursor pools in the platelets, bone marrow and the gastrointestinal (GI) mucosa are acquired and regulated, and in this context some aspects on the interaction between triglyceride (TG)-rich lipoproteins and platelets. 1. 5. 20. A Chloroplast Localized Small Heat Shock Protein, Hsp21. Importance of Hsp21 in stress protection of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, recombinant expression and characterization of oxidation-dependent conformational changes

    Författare :Ulrika Härndahl; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; a-crystallin; sHsp; chaperone; amphipathic a-helix; oligomer; redox-regulated; methionine sulfoxidation; oxidative stress; regulation; protein structure; circular dichroism; mass spectrometry; fluorescence spectroscopy; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : A specific group of heat shock proteins, the so called small heat shock proteins (sHsps), exists in all organisms but are especially abundant in plants. The sHsps prevent aggregation of other proteins (substrate proteins) during transient heat and oxidative stress. LÄS MER
