  1. 1. Lipoproteins in Staphylococcus aureus infections

    Författare :Majd Mohammad; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Staphylococcus aureus; lipoproteins; TLR2; septic arthritis; skin infection; mouse;

    Sammanfattning : Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infections remain a major challenge for the healthcare system, and new treatment options are highly demanded. S. aureus is a pathogenic microorganism, responsible for a broad range of clinical infections in humans. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of atherogenic lipoproteins using mass spectrometry-based lipidomics

    Författare :Marcus Ståhlman; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lipids; lipoproteins; atherogenesis; lipidomics; type 2 diabetes; mass spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing worldwide and is about to reach epidemic proportions. The disease is often associated with dyslipidemia which is characterized by an atherogenic lipoprotein profile including elevated serum triacylglycerol levels, low high-density lipoprotein levels and high levels of small low-density lipoproteins. 3. 3. Model Membranes and Their Interactions with Native and Artificial Lipoproteins

    Författare :Sarah Waldie; Marité Cárdenas; Michael Haertlein; Selma Maric; Timothy Dafforn; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model Cell Membranes; Cholesterol; Lipoproteins; Apolipoprotein E; Lipid Exchange; Reconstituted HDL; Atherosclerosis; Deuteration; Neutron Reflectometry; Small-Angle Neutron Scattering;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis arises from build-up of plaque in the blood, can result in cardiovascular disease and is the largest killer in the west. Low- and high-density lipoproteins are involved in the disease development by depositing and removing lipids to and from artery walls. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Proteoglycans, group IIA phospholipase A2, and lipoproteins.Potential involvement in atherogenesis

    Författare :Peter Sartipy; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; group IIA phospholipase A2; proteoglycans; lipoproteins; inflammation;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial complex disease characterized by a focal accumulation of ApoB-100 containing lipoproteins, extracellular matrix (ECM), and cells in the arterial intima accompanied by an inflammatory reaction. In vivo and in vitro data supports the hypothesis that sulfated extracellular proteoglycans may be responsible for the selective retention of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in the arterial wall.
