  1. 1. A Chloroplast Localized Small Heat Shock Protein, Hsp21. Importance of Hsp21 in stress protection of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, recombinant expression and characterization of oxidation-dependent conformational changes

    Författare :Ulrika Härndahl; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; a-crystallin; sHsp; chaperone; amphipathic a-helix; oligomer; redox-regulated; methionine sulfoxidation; oxidative stress; regulation; protein structure; circular dichroism; mass spectrometry; fluorescence spectroscopy; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : A specific group of heat shock proteins, the so called small heat shock proteins (sHsps), exists in all organisms but are especially abundant in plants. The sHsps prevent aggregation of other proteins (substrate proteins) during transient heat and oxidative stress. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of the thioredoxin system in redox signaling and oxidative stress

    Författare :Belén Espinosa Fernández; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Reactive oxygen species exert reversible posttranslational modifications in proteins containing redox sensitive thiols, thereby affecting several cellular processes and protein functions. Reductive enzyme systems, such as the thioredoxin system, can reverse most of these cysteine modifications. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The chloroplast lumen : New insights into thiol redox regulation and functions of lumenal proteins

    Författare :Michael Hall; Wolfgang Schröder; Bob B. Buchanan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; thylakoid lumen; thioredoxin; pentapeptide repeat; proteomics; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : In higher plants oxygenic photosynthesis primarily takes place in the chloroplasts of leaves. Within the chloroplasts is an intricate membrane system, the thylakoid membrane, which is the site of light harvesting and photosynthetic electron transport. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Proteomic analysis of Arabidopsis thaliana

    Författare :Irene Granlund; Wolfgang Schröder; Birte Svensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proteomic; speclust; post-translational modification; DIGE; plastocyanin; TL29; APX; thylakoid lumen; chloroplast stroma; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : A complete proteome analysis of the chloroplast stroma, using 2D-PAGE, from spinach and Arabidopsis was performed. To improve the identification of proteins a computer program named SPECLUST was used. LÄS MER

  5. 5. PTPs : redox controlled regulators of cell signaling and transformation

    Författare :Åsa Sandin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) are important redox regulated enzymes that control the tyrosine phosphorylation status in the cell. These studies aimed to increase the understanding on how PTPs are controlled by reversible oxidation in different pathological settings such as hypoxia and restenosis and to which extent oxidized PTPs contribute to certain diseases.
