    Sammanfattning : Fågel, fisk eller förundran? A study of existential attitudes based on essays written in a multicultural upper secondary school for adults The aim of this study is to survey and interpret outlooks on life as expressed in 175 essays written (1999-2001) in a multicultural Swedish suburb by adult students learning Swedish, Swedish as a Foreign Language, and Philosophy. What are the recurring themes in these essays? How do they reflect the fundamental existential problems of their authors? The theoretical background rests on existential hermeneutics with Sartre (1943, 1946, 1984) as the most important philosophical source. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this study is how elementary school pupils look upon foreign cultures. Two hundred children have written essays about what they think about thoughts and belief in other countries.The analysis shows that democracy, justice and equality are very important conceptions within children's general view of life.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to illuminate which role theories of music education can have in the dialectic between discourse and competence in the practice of music pedagogy. The thesis stems from a problem-oriented project that resulted in the formulation of the following research question: how can the connection between music education theory and the power of definition be described and problematized from a cultural-historical perspective using Vygotsky's thesis of Semiotic Thinking? In his research on the dual function of language Vygotsky makes a distinction between the usage of concepts and conceptualization. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : During the second half of the 20th century education has been recognized as a human right in several international conventions, and the UN also holds that “Education shall be free” and that “Elementary education shall be compulsory” (UN, 1948, Article 26).The education-as-a-human right-project could be viewed as a good intention of global inclusion in recognizing that all individuals have a right to education in virtue of being humans, and the idea of education as a human right thus has a tremendous global significance.
