  1. 1. Cough-induced leak point pressure : Reproducibility and validity of a new urodynamic method to assess stress incontinence in women

    Författare :Hans Siltberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; Urinary incontinence; leak point pressure; urodynamics; validity; reproducibility; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and Gynaecology; obstetrik och gynekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary incontinence is defined as "involuntary loss of urine which is objectively demonstrable and a social or hygienic problem." The symptom of urinary incontinence is common and more prevalent in women than in men. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The heart rate method for estimating oxygen uptake in walking and cycle commuting : Evaluations based on reproducibility and validity studies of the heart rate method and a portable metabolic system

    Författare :Jane Salier Eriksson; Peter Schantz; Hans Rosdahl; Jostein Hallén; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Heart rate; Oxygen consumption; Validity; Reproducibility; Oxycon Mobile; Douglas Bag Method; Cycle commuting; Walking commuting; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Walking and cycling to work can contribute to population health, but more objective knowledge concerning exercise intensities, oxygen uptake and the metabolic demands of this physical activity is needed for this and other evaluations. To attain this, valid and reliable instruments are a requirement. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Imaging of subclinical atherosclerosis by B-mode ultrasound. Measurement reproducibility and assessment of atherosclerotic plaque occurrence, size and echogenicity in relation to cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Caroline Schmidt; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :atherosclerosis; intima-media thickness; reproducibility; plaque; echogenicity;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is an insidious disease that in general has a very long clinical silent phase. This disease does not take place uniformly in the arterial tree, instead major sites for this disease process are the coronary arteries, carotid and cerebral arteries, aorta and the large arteries to the lower extremities. 4. 4. Autonomic function and myocardial repolarisation. Studies in renal diseases and in spinal cord injury

    Författare :Sinsia Gao; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :vagus; sympathetic nervous system; repolarisation; baroreflex; reproducibility; agreement; hypertension; spinal cord injury; autonomic dysreflexia; renal failure.;

    Sammanfattning : Both experimental and clinical evidence indicates that cardiac parasympathetic markers such as baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) and heart rate variability (HRV) have significant prognostic value. Furthermore, increased myocardial repolarisation lability reflected by increased QT variability index (QTVI) has been identified as a predictor for sudden cardiac death. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Aspects of nutrition in geriatric patients - Especially dietary assessment, intake and requirements

    Författare :Mats Persson Lintrup; Geriatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Validity.; Total energy expenditure; Reproducibility; Malnutrition; Geriatric patients; Fluid intake; Energy requirements; Doubly labelled water; Diet records; Aged; Dietary intake; Nutrition; Näringslära; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop and test the feasibility of a dietary record routine, where nursing staff assess the patient’s food and fluid intake based on standardised portion sizes and household measurements. The energy intake (EI) was studied with a dietary record in 61 geriatric patients. LÄS MER
