  1. 16. The involvement of the TNF-alpha system in skeletal muscle in response to marked overuse

    Författare :Lina Renström; Sture Forsgren; Per Stål; Håkan Alfredson; Eva Ekblad; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TNF-alpha; TNFR1; TNFR2; muscle damage; myositis; peritendinous tissue; tendinopathy;

    Sammanfattning : Painful conditions having the origin within the musculoskeletal system is a common cause for people to seek medical care. Between 20-40% of all visits to the primal care in Sweden are coupled to pain from the musculoskeletal system. Muscle pain and impaired muscle function can be caused by muscles being repetitively overused and/or via heavy load. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Image analysis of prostate cancer tissue biomarkers

    Författare :Giuseppe Lippolis; Malmö Urologisk cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostate cancer; image analysis; Time Resolved Fluorescence; automated Gleason; PSA; AR; fusion gene; TMAs;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men. In order to improve diagnosis and prognosis, new sensitive and specific biomarkers are needed. Tissue biomarkers carry expression and morphological information of the tissue where they are expressed. LÄS MER

  3. 18. PLASMA PROTEINS IN NORMAL AND PREECLAMPTIC PREGNANCY

    Författare :Karl Kristensen; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; Obstetrics; pregnancy; renal function; serum amyloid A protein; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; preeclampsia; beta-2 microglobulin; C-reactive protein; cystatin C; inflammation; placenta; beta trace protein; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to provide extended background knowledge concerning several biochemical markers, used for the medical evaluation of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed preeclampsia, in order to improve the reliability of monitoring. Plasma levels of beta-2 microglobulin, cystatin C and beta trace protein are known to reflect renal filtration in non-pregnant settings, and the plasma proteins, C-reactive protein and serum amyloid A protein, are known to be sensitive markers of inflammation. 4. 19. Human intestinal epithelial cells in innate immunity : interactions with normal microbiota and pathogenic bacteria

    Författare :Gangwei Ou; Sten Hammarström; Marie-Louise Hammarström; Agnes Wold; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Rod-shaped bacteria were previously shown to be associated with the small intestinal epithelium of children with celiac disease (CD). Using culture-dependent and independent methods, we characterized the microbiota of small intestine in children with CD and controls. The normal microbiota constitutes an unique organ-specific biofilm. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Radiobiological effects of the thyroid gland - transcriptomic and proteomic responses to 131l and 211At exposure

    Författare :Nils Rudqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
