  1. 1. PLASMA PROTEINS IN NORMAL AND PREECLAMPTIC PREGNANCY

    Författare :Karl Kristensen; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; Obstetrics; pregnancy; renal function; serum amyloid A protein; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; preeclampsia; beta-2 microglobulin; C-reactive protein; cystatin C; inflammation; placenta; beta trace protein; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to provide extended background knowledge concerning several biochemical markers, used for the medical evaluation of pregnant women with suspected or confirmed preeclampsia, in order to improve the reliability of monitoring. Plasma levels of beta-2 microglobulin, cystatin C and beta trace protein are known to reflect renal filtration in non-pregnant settings, and the plasma proteins, C-reactive protein and serum amyloid A protein, are known to be sensitive markers of inflammation. 2. 2. Proteomic strategies for analysis of cerebrospinal fluid in neurodegenerative disorders

    Författare :Sara Folkesson Hansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer?s disease; frontotemporal dementia; cerebrospinal fluid; neurodegeneration; proteomics; mass spectrometry; prefractionation; protein identification; quantification;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT There is a great need for biomarkers to diagnose neurodegenerative disorders, such as the cognitive disorders Alzheimer?s disease (AD) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is in contact with the extracellular fluid of the brain and is consequently a valuable medium for identifying biomarkers for neurological disorders. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neurochemical and neuroendocrine reactions during non-neurological surgery

    Författare :Rolf Anckarsäter; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :albumin; beta-2-microglobulin; blood brain barrier; cerebrospinal fluid; infammation; spinal anesthesia; stress;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Objective: To study changes in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteins, monoamine metabolites and hormones during non-neurological surgery. Subjects and methods: Thirty-five patients without neurological or psychiatric disorders undergoing knee replacements had CSF and serum samples drawn from spinal and arterial catheters before, three hours after and on the morning after surgery. 4. 4. Neurobiological markers for personality, inflammation and stress: A naturalistic study in knee arthroplastic patients

    Författare :Sara Bromander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; personality; cytokine; aggression; inflammation; impulsivity; inslulin; blood-brain barrier;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Psychiatry has strived to identify biomarkers elucidating the underlying biological mechanisms behind different disorders, to help in diagnostics and to assess treatment effects. In forensic psychiatric populations, findings have connected levels of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites and blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity with impulsivity and aggression. LÄS MER
