  1. 31. Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium

    Författare :Radovan Pilka; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; secretion; Biology; Biologi; Cytology; oncology; implantation; human; endometrium; mRNA; MMP-26; TIMP-4; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi; Obstetrik; sexuality; reproduction; sexualitet; andrology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to study matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium. Most importantnly, both these molecules may be ivolved in the implantation process. Trophoblast tissue from human as well as mouse embryos produces pro-MMP-9. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Tracing local hyaluronan after ocular anterior segment trauma

    Författare :Anna Makar; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oftalmologi; Ophtalmology; COX-2 inhibitors; radiolabeling; trauma response; aqueous humor; hyaluronan; iris;

    Sammanfattning : Hyaluronan has been found in the eye in varying amounts and at different sites. It is involved in physiological and pathological processes, though many aspects of its bio-logi-cal functions are still unclear. We have studied the role of iris tissue in hyal-uro-nan production in the anterior segment of the eye, and its changes after trauma. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Metabolic effects of interleukin-6

    Författare :Ingrid Wernstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IL-6; cytokine; obesity; energy expenditure; lipolysis; ASP; sympathetic nervous system; exercise; -174 G C IL-6 polymorphism; fat mass; stress response; cerebrospinal fluid;

    Sammanfattning : The levels of the cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the circulation are positively correlated with indices of obesity and metabolic disturbances. Paradoxically, plasma IL-6 levels increase markedly during prolonged and strenuous exercise, mainly due to increased production and release from working skeletal muscle. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Interactions between Malignant Keratinocytes and Fibroblasts : Studies in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

    Författare :Malin Hakelius; Daniel Nowinski; Bengt Gerdin; Kristofer Rubin; Avni Abdiu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coculture; extracellular matrix; interleukin-1 alpha; tumor stroma; differential gene regulation; innate response; Plastic Surgery; Plastikkirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Carcinoma growth requires a supportive tumor stroma. The concept of reciprocal interactions between tumor and stromal cells has become widely acknowledged and the connective tissue activation seen in the malignant process has been likened to that of a healing wound. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Systemic inflammatory activation during cardiac Surgery. Influence of cardiopulmonary bypass management and patient factors

    Författare :Martin Westerberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :cardiopulmonary bypass; inflammatory response; coagulation; CABG; cardiotomy suction; cytokines;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass is accompanied by a prominent systemic inflammatory and hemostatic activation, which may contribute to postoperative complications. Aims: To investigate if selection of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) system and management of cardiotomy suction (CTS) and mediastinal shed blood (MSB) affect systemic inflammatory response. LÄS MER
