  1. 1. Glutamate and GABA signalling components in the human brain and in immune cells

    Författare :Amol K. Bhandage; Bryndis Birnir; Gerard P. Ahern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Glutamate and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are the principal excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the central nervous system (CNS). They both can activate their ionotropic and metabotropic receptors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modulation of B cell access to antigen by passively administered antibodies : an explanation for antibody feedback regulation?

    Författare :Hui Xu; Birgitta Heyman; Helena Harris; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgG; IgG3; IgE; suppression; enhancement; epitope masking; antigen transport; antigen presentation; follicular B cells; marginal zone B cells; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Antibody responses can be up- or down-regulated by passive administration of specific antibody together with antigen. Depending on the structure of the antigen and the antibody isotype, responses can be completely suppressed or enhanced up to a 1000-fold of what is seen in animals immunized with antigen alone. 3. 3. Immune complex induced IgG1-rheumatoid factor production

    Författare :Eva Nordström; Jan Andersson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic crippling disease mainly characterised by inflammation in the joints. Most patients with rheumatoid arthritis are seropositive, i.e. have increased serum levels of antibodies against the constant part of IgG, so called rheumatoid factors (RF). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immunological and functional properties of a non-repeat region in Plasmodium falciparum antigen Pf155/RESA

    Författare :Siddique Abu Bakar; Lars Hvid; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Plasmodium falciparum malaria is one of the most prevalent of all the great insect-borne diseases causing high morbidity and mortality in humans. As conventional anti-malarial treatment is becoming increasingly inefficient, alternative approaches to combat the parasite, like vaccine development, are of high priority. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The mast cell transcriptome and the evolution of granule proteins and Fc receptors

    Författare :Srinivas Akula; Lars Hellman; Sandra Kleinau; Arne Egesten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Mast cell; Fc receptors; Granule serine protease; Evolution and transcriptome.; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Protection against disease-causing pathogens, known as immunity, involves numerous cells organs, tissues and their products. To able to understand the biology of immune cells (hematopoietic cells) and their role in an immune system, we have used several different methods, including transcriptome analyses, bioinformatics, production of recombinant proteins and analyses of some of them, focusing on the granule proteases by substrate phage display.
