  1. 1. The matter of white matter in Alzheimer's disease. -On white matter disease from neuropathology and neuroimaging to clinical presentation

    Författare :Martin Sjöbeck; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; executive dysfunction; Clinical physics; magnetic resonance imaging; diffusion tensor imaging; neuropathology; microvascular pathology; astrocytes; myelin; oligodendrocytes; white matter disease; Alzheimer s disease; neuropsychology; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neurofysiologi; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik; Neurology;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent type of dementing disorder. The cortical pathology of AD has been recognized for almost a century. In later years, an associated pathological feature of AD has been identified which affects the white matter. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of B cells and Th2 cytokines in physiological and pathological inflammation

    Författare :Lars Svensson; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammation Th2 Cytokines B cells antibodies mice estrogen; transplantation; Immunology; serology; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The CD4+ T cells have an important role in inflammation. Based on the local cytokine milieu, these cells can differentiate into either a Th1 population promoting cellular immunity or Th2 population involved in humoral immunity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation of cellular growth and identification of stromal gene signatures in breast cancer

    Författare :Sofia Winslow; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; cellular stress; proliferation; PKCα; G3BP; PMP22; miR-34c; gene expression profiles; stroma;

    Sammanfattning : Normal tissue is tightly controlled to keep a balance between reproduction and elimination of cells. In cancer, these regulated processes are disrupted, resulting in uncontrolled cell growth. Regulation of RNA stability and turnover is important to maintain cellular homeostasis and can be controlled by various mechanisms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sutures bridging nerve defects

    Författare :Peter Scherman; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; traumatology; Surgery; continuous longitudinal sutures; nerve repair; nerve regeneration; nerve defect; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : A new and simple method for the repair of nerve defects, in which sutures alone are used to guide regeneration between the nerve endings, was developed. Bilateral seven to 17 mm rat sciatic nerve defects were bridged by continuous longitudinal sutures with or without different modifications, by conventional autologous nerve grafts or direct repair under tension as controls. 5. 5. Gene Expression Changes and Brain Plasticity after Experimental Stroke

    Författare :Mattias Rickhag; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; apolipoprotein D; regeneration; brain ischemia; functional recovery;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is the most common life-threatening neurological disease and ranks as the third leading cause of death in major industrialized countries. It is also the leading cause of serious long-term disability and about sixty percent of survivors have disabilities in their extremities. LÄS MER
