Sammanfattning : The thesis examines the five plays published by August Strindberg under the label of Chamber Plays: Stormy Weather, The Burned Lot, The Ghost Sonata, The Pelican (all 1907), and The Black Glove (1909). It takes its point of departure in a particular aspect of Strindberg’s way of writing as he actually describes it himself: during the act of deliberate composing, a productive fever tends to emerge bringing an element of chance to the work. Sammanfattning : Atmospheric and Geological Entanglements is a study of contemporary North American ecopoetry, a poetry which is characterized by a negotiation or subversion of established cultural representations of nature, and by a re-deployment of poetic forms such as lyrical poetry, pastoral and elegy. The studied poets experiment with form and question well-established categories such as human and nature, instead emphasizing connections between the human, other organisms, and inorganic matter. 5. Narrating Nuclear Disaster : Literary Form and Affective Modes after Chernobyl and Fukushima
Sammanfattning : The major nuclear disasters of Chernobyl (1986) and Fukushima (2011) play an important role in the public perception of nuclear power, yet their social and material impacts remain scientifically debated and, thus, their meaning for the future of nuclear power production contested. Narrating Nuclear Disaster intervenes in these debates by asking what might be learned about nuclear disasters through an analysis of the formal and affective strategies employed in literary texts narrating their aftermath.
