  1. 1. The Arctic Atmosphere Interactions between clouds, boundary-layer turbulence and large-scale circulation

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm, Sweden : Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University

    Författare :Georgia Sotiropoulou; Michael Tjernström; Joseph Sedlar; Susanne Crewell; [2016]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; mixed-phase clouds; thermodynamic structure; Arctic inversion; cloud-surface interactions; seasonal transition; IFS model; LES; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic climate is changing fast, but weather forecast and climate models have serious deficiencies in representing the Arctic atmosphere, because of the special conditions that occur in this region. The cold ice surface and the advection of warm air aloft from the south result in a semi-continuous presence of a temperature inversion, known as the “Arctic inversion”, which is governed by interacting large-scale and local processes, such as surface fluxes and cloud formation. 2. 2. Tomographic views of the middle atmosphere from a satellite platform

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Department of Meteorology, Stockholm University

    Författare :Kristoffer Hultgren; Jörg Gumbel; Christian von Savigny; [2014]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atmosphere; Mesosphere; Noctilucent Clouds; Polar Mesospheric Clouds; Tomography; Remote sensing; Odin; OSIRIS; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi;

    Sammanfattning : The middle atmosphere is a very important part of the Earth system. Until recently, we did not realize the importance of the structure of this vaporous shell and of the fundamental role it plays in both creating and sustaining life on the planet. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Persistent organic pollutants in the atmosphere - spatial and temporal variations

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Ecology, Lund University

    Författare :Cecilia Backe; [2001]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tropical and temperate regions; global transport; temperature; latitudinal fractionation; fugacity; soil organic matter; soil-air exchange; washout ratio; rain; precipitation; atmosphere; spatial and temporal variations; DDT; PCB; persistent organic pollutants; polychlorinated biphenyls; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Ecology; Ekologi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In these thesis I have studied the spatial and temporal variations of PCBs in the atmosphere and in precipitation in southern Sweden. Further, soil-air exchange processes of PCBs were investigated. Finally, the long-range transport of PCBs and DDT was studied in the Baltic Sea region and in a tropical vs. a temporal region. Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the study is to understand and describe the phenomenon ‘atmosphere in care settings’ as experienced by patients, significant others and health care staff. The study consists of four papers, each of which illuminates various aspects of the phenomenon. LÄS MER
