    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pharmaca; opiates; narcotics; apothecary; history of opium; history of pharmacy; history of poison regulations; history of drug regulations; economic history of Sweden; 19:th century; Georges Bataille; Ernesto Laclau; Chantal Mouffe; Michel Foucault; Fernand Braudel; farmaka; droger; gifter; narkotika; opium; morfin; opiater; apotek; droghistoria; apotekshistoria; Sverige; diskursanalys; ekonomisk historia; Georges Bataille; Ernesto Laclau; Chantal Mouffe; Michel Foucault; Fernand Braudel; ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Sammanfattning : Before the regulation of opium as a “narcotic” in Sweden in 1923, opium was not regulated for its intoxicating properties and was freely available. But not in any kind of shop. Opium was legally available only through the pharmacies. This thesis explores how this free availability of a narcotic was understood by its traders, the pharmacists. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Levosimendan in early experimental sepsis: effects on the heart and hepatosplanchnic circulation

    Författare :Doris Cunha Goncalves; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; septic shock; myocardial oxygen consumption; myocardial dysfunction; levosimendan; endotoxin; contractility; catecholamines; calcium sensitizer; cardiotonic agents; splanchnic perfusion;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis-related cardiovascular dysfunction associated with fluid-unresponsive tissue hypoperfusion might require inotropic treatment. This cardiovascular dysfunction seems to involve calcium desensitization and adrenergic unresponsiveness. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Endothelial Barrier Dysfunction in Multiple Organ Injury. An Experimental Study in Rats

    Författare :Xiaoming Deng; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Endothelial barrier permeability; Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome; Zymosan; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) is still the leading cause of mortality in the surgical intensive care unit. The effect on among others endothelial barrier permeability, reticuloendothelial function, organ function and protease-antiprotease activities was studied following a variety of challenges, especially over-activation of macrophages induced by intraperitoneal administration of zymosan. Sammanfattning : Drugs targeting nucleic acids were studied in DNA and RNA model systems. The effects were investigated with respect to structural and thermodynamic influence, kinetics, and biological function. The drugs employed in this thesis were anticancer active platinum(II) complexes, polyamine derivatives, and siRNA. LÄS MER
