Sammanfattning : This dissertation is a case study of how two agencies in Umeå, Sweden and Barrie, Canada protect children found in need of child welfare services. The project's purposes are to describe how children are protected from harm in these two contexts, to illuminate the similarities and differences in the child welfare systems reflected at the local level, and explicate the significance of uncovered similarities and differences. 3. A Risk or a Resource? : A Study of the Swedish State’s Shifting Perception and Handling of Minority Religious Communities between 1952-2019
Sammanfattning : In Sweden, as in many other European countries, governments and other public authorities increasingly seem to view religious communities as an important resource that should be included in welfare provision and help combat problems that societies are facing, thereby intentionally or unintentionally bringing religion back into the public arena. 4. Batch Sorption Studies of Aqueous Cadmium and Lead from Contaminated Water onto Selected Biosorbents
Sammanfattning : Groundwater, wastewater, surface runoff and surface water samples from Lake Victoria basin, Uganda was assessed for trace metals contamination. Untreated, base-treated and peroxide-treated biosorbents from Albizia coriaria, Coffea canephora, Cyperus papyrus, Erythrina abyssinica and Musa spp were investigated for removal of selected trace metals from contaminated water in batch studies.
