  1. 26. Characterization of respiratory physiology in Lactococcus lactis for high-yield production of high-performance starter cultures

    Författare :Anna Johanson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; batch cultivations; lag phase; haemin haem; respiration-permissive conditions; aerobic growth; Lactic acid bacteria; acidification activity; continuous cultivations; starter culture production;

    Sammanfattning : Fermented food products are consumed world-wide, every day, and the demand is growing as intake increases. Lactococcus lactis is a lactic acid bacterium commonly used as a starter culture to produce fermented dairy products. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Metabolic engineering and cultivation strategies for recombinant production of (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate

    Författare :Mariel Perez-Zabaleta; Gen Larsson; Antonius J. A. van Maris; Diethard Mattanovich; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Escherichia coli; R -3-hydroxybutyrate; nitrogen limitation; nitrogen depletion; lignocellulose; fed batch; acetate; β-ketothiolase; acetoacetyl-CoA reductase; Halomonas boliviensis.; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolic engineering and process engineering are two powerful disciplines to design and improve microbial processes for sustainable production of an extensive number of compounds ranging from chemicals to pharmaceuticals. The aim of this thesis was to synergistically combine these two disciplines to improve the production of a model chemical called (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate (3HB), which is a medium-value product with a stereocenter and two functional groups. Sammanfattning : To facilitate early diagnosis of diseases and elucidation of the processes involved in their development and progression, various specific compounds or ‘biomarkers’ are often monitored. The first step is to decide which compounds to analyze. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Modeling Lateral Transshipments and Perishable Items in Inventory Systems

    Författare :Fredrik Olsson; Produktionsekonomi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; Teknik; Dynamic programming ; Inventory ; Perishable items ; Lateral transshipments ; Pooling ; Batch ordering ; Optimal policies ; Stochastic ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two main areas in the field of stochastic inventory theory; ateral transshipments and perishable items. In the first part of this thesis we give an introduction to the field of inventory theory, and discuss some previous literature connected to the research presented in this thesis. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Investigation of the functionality related characteristics of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose for the release from matrix tablets

    Författare :Anna Viridén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; functionality related characteristics; batch-to-batch variation; hydrophilic matrix tablets; hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; polymer characterisation; heterogeneous; drug release;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrophilic matrix tablets are a compressed well mixed composite of drug substance and excipients including a hydrophilic polymer. When the tablet comes in contact with biological fluids, the hydrophilic polymer starts to dissolve, a process that decreases the water penetration through the tablet and involves dimensional changes of the tablet due to swelling of the solvated polymers.
