1. Modeling Lateral Transshipments and Perishable Items in Inventory Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two main areas in the field of stochastic inventory theory; ateral transshipments and perishable items. In the first part of this thesis we give an introduction to the field of inventory theory, and discuss some previous literature connected to the research presented in this thesis. LÄS MER
2. Indirect corrections and disequilibrium pricing : studies in second-best policies
Sammanfattning : The five papers in this volume are analyses of second-best policies. The first three deal with controlling externalities and the remaining two with public sector pricing. LÄS MER
3. Approximate Solution Methods to Optimal Control Problems via Dynamic Programming Models
Sammanfattning : Optimal control theory has a long history and broad applications. Motivated by the goal of obtaining insights through unification and taking advantage of the abundant capability to generate data, this thesis introduces some suboptimal schemes via abstract dynamic programming models. 4. Determinants and Consequences of Language-in-Education Policies : Essays in Economics of Education
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three empirical studies. The first study, Rationales to Language-in-Education Policies in Postcolonial Africa: Towards a Holistic Approach, considers two issues. First, it explores the factors affecting the choice of an LiE policy in 35 African countries. LÄS MER
5. On LQG-Optimal Event-Based Sampling
Sammanfattning : Event-based control is a promising concept for the design of resource-efficient feedback systems, where events such as sampling, actuation, and data transmissions are triggered reactively based on monitored control performance rather than a periodic timer. In this thesis, we investigate how sampling and communication events should be triggered to fully exploit the potential of event-based control based on the classic linear–quadratic–Gaussian (LQG) framework.
