  1. 1. Stroke in the Long Term. Prognosis, comorbidity, disability, readmission, and the caregiver perspective

    Författare :Stefan Sennfält; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Strokeuppföljning; Ischemisk stroke; Hjärnblödning; Samsjuklighet; Anhöriga; Återinläggning; Stroke Outcome; Ischemic Stroke; Intracerebral Haemorrhage; Comorbidity; Informal Caregivers; Readmission;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Stroke is a major cause of mortality and disability. Prognosis is constantly evolving and is affected by multiple factors, many of which have not previously been thoroughly analyzed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nycklar till Kommunikation : Kommunikation mellan vuxna personer med grav förvärvad hjärnskada och personernas närstående, anhöriga och personal

    Författare :Pia Käcker; Jerker Holmbäck; Anders Möller; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Communication; social interaction; communicative impairment; communicative ability; acquired severe brain damage; global aphasia; language impairment; friends and family; caregivers; kommunikation; social interaktion; kommunikationsstörning; kommunikativ kompetens; förvärvad grav hjärnskada; global afasi; språkstörning; anhöriga; personal; Disability research; Handikappsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Studien fokuserar kommunikation mellan vuxna personer med grav förvärvad hjärnskada och deras närstående. Syftet är att med utgångspunkt från de närståendes berättelser beskriva hur kommunikationen manifesteras, samt att ge en teoretisk beskrivning av vilka faktorer som understödjer respektive motverkar kommunikationen. 3. 3. Blood pressure in very old age : determinants, adverse outcomes, and heterogeneity

    Författare :Bodil Weidung; Yngve Gustafson; Håkan Littbrand; Bo Carlberg; Peter Nordström; Sölve Elmståhl; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: High blood pressure (BP) is the leading risk factor for disease and mortality worldwide. However, risks associated with high BP in very old age (≥ 80 or ≥ 85 years) are not entirely understood, as the majority of scientific studies have been performed with younger populations and existing scientific knowledge about very old individuals is sometimes contradictory. 4. 4. Common variants in genes regulating free fatty acid metabolism and risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Martin Carlsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular disease; free fatty acids; genetics; UCP1; beta3-adrenergic receptor; beta2-adrenergic receptor; type 2 diabetes mellitus; FABP2; stroke; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The present study evaluated genetic and metabolic factors influencing the risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) with special reference to increased concentrations of free fatty acids (FFA) in 1174 Swedish diabetic and nondiabetic subjects. Common polymorphisms in the fatty acid binding protein 2 (FABP2), the B2-adrenergic receptor (B2-AR), the B3 -adrenergic receptor (B3-AR) and the uncoupling protein 1 (UCP-1) genes were related to anthropometric and metabolic variables.
