    Sammanfattning : In this study, governing as re-contextualization of values in Swedish educational policy has been described and analyzed. Two levels have been central to the study: the national level, in the form of the Swedish Schools Inspectorate's (SSI) survey to school personnel, and the municipal level, examined by interviews with superintendents in sparsely populated and rural areas.     Sammanfattning : The present thesis suggests ideas for a theory on the education of deliberative democratic citizens in a multicultural society in terms of what I have called Eddemcit. It involves a) an ideal view of democracy in communicative and discourse-ethical terms, b) a comprehensive view of an autonomous citizen, c) two conditions for deliberation in terms of opportunity and freedom, d) a core value in terms of conscious social and cultural mediation, e) democratic principles as heuristic devices, f) an understanding of democratic deliberation in terms of intersubjectivity, processes and the better argument.     Sammanfattning : This thesis poses the question ‘What is the critique of democracy in Plato’s Republic?’ It is not the first to do so. But contrary to standard readings, this thesis does not assume neither epistemological nor elitist explanations. Rather, it sees the Kallipolis, ‘the beautiful city in words’ as predicated on a particular anthropology. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Local media are often credited with an integral role in the local community, tying individuals together in a shared identity or community, where local news can foster community engagement and audience participation, providing more agency in democratic processes (Lie, 2018b; Nelson & Kim, 2020; Wenzel, 2019).This doctoral compilation thesis focuses on so-called “hyperlocal media”, which are typically citizen-led, participatory and largely independent (Turner, 2015), with content concentrated to a small geographically defined community (Radcliffe, 2012).
