1. Spatial immune analyses in clinical cancer tissue
Sammanfattning : Cancer is a leading cause of premature death and lung cancer is the deadliest cancer type, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) representing 85% of lung cancer cases. Despite promising development in cancer treatment in recent decades, overall prognosis is poor. LÄS MER
2. Molecular and serological tools for clinical diagnostics of Lyme borreliosis - can the laboratory analysis be improved?
Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis (LB) is caused by spirochetes within the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex and is the most common tick-transmitted disease in the northern hemisphere. The transmission of the spirochetes to humans in Europe is done by the Ixodes ricinus ticks, which can also transmit the relapsing fever species Borrelia miyamotoi. LÄS MER
3. The clinical value of genetic analyses of bone and soft tissue tumors
Sammanfattning : Tumors of bone and soft tissue are common but only constitute 1 % of all malignant tumors. The malignant tumors are often difficult to diagnose due to their rarity and morphological resemblance between subtypes. This makes the diagnostic process challenging. LÄS MER
4. Assessment of microvascular and metabolic responses in the skin
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this project was to develop experimental in vivo models that allow for minimally invasive investigations of responses in the skin to microvascular and metabolic provocations. The cutaneous microvasculature has emerged as a valuable model and been proposed to mirror the microcirculation in other organs. LÄS MER
5. Aquaporins in Infection and Inflammation
Sammanfattning : The ability of eukaryotic cells to change their shape and to migrate directionally is highly dependent on active volume regulation in cells building up tissues as well as in individual cells. Transmembrane fluxes of water via specialized water channels, called aquaporins (AQPs), facilitate the changes of volume and shape, which additionally require a complex interplay between the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton.
