  1. 1. The Anabolic - Anti-catabolic Paradigm of Augmenting Skeletal Regeneration: A Bone Quality Perspective

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Biomedical Engineering, Lund university

    Författare :Neashan Mathavan; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2017-05-08]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bone fracture; Fracture healing; bone quality; Bone biomechanics; bone morphogenetic protein-7; Zoledronate; skeletal regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : Successful fracture repair is a complex series of coordinated processes leading to regeneration of new bone to bridge the fracture site, remodelling of the newly formed bone and restoration of skeletal function. Disruption of these processes occurs in approximately 10% of all fractures and leads to delayed or failed healing requiring surgical interventions, increased complication rates, prolonged rehabilitation and high morbidity. Sammanfattning : Bone tissue is commonly transplanted during orthopedic surgeries, primarily for the management of bone defects caused by trauma or various orthopedic conditions including, but not limited to, infections and tumours. Bone grafts are a surgeon’s choice, but their associated drawbacks are paving the way for biomaterial based bone graft substitutes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bone Healing after implantation of bone substitute materials. Experimental studies in estrogen deficiency

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå universitet

    Författare :Sven Öberg; Umeå universitet.; [2003]

    Sammanfattning : Bone is a remarkable multifunctional tissue with the ability to regenerate and remodel without generating any scar tissue. However, bone loss due to injury or diseases can be a great challenge and affect the patient significantly. Transplanting bone graft from one site in the patient to the site of fracture or bone void, i.e. LÄS MER
