  1. 1. Signaling determinants in Trojan horse-mediated dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii

    Författare :Einar B. Ólafsson; Antonio Barragan; Eva Frickel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; leukocyte motility; dendritic cell; amoeboid migration; host-parasite interactions; podosome; integrin; ITGB1; ECM; MAT; TIMP; MMP; MAPK; Erk; RTK; HGFR; Ras; calcium; VDCC; VGCC; calmodulin; CaMkII; CD63; FAK; SRC; Pi3k; hypermigration; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. 2. 2. The Prognostic and Treatment Predictive Value of Proliferation and TIMP-1 in Breast Cancer

    Författare :Marie Klintman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; predictive marker; resistance; prognostic factor; proliferation; prospective; TIMP-1; Ki67; S-phase; MAI; PPH3; cyclin B1; cyclin A; node-negative; validation;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common tumour form and the second leading cause of death in solid tumours in women in the Western world. Despite improvements in the treatment, a considerable number of patients will relapse and die from their breast cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Migration on extracellular matrix surface and infiltration into matrix - two distinguishable activities of human T cells

    Författare :Jyrki Ivanoff; Karl-Gösta Sundqvist; Joachim Lundahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; extracellular matrix; fibronectin; collagen type IV; laminin; neuropeptide; chemokine; TIMP-1; MMP-9; T cells; Migration; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Migration of T-lymphocytes on a surface coated with extracellular matrix (ECM) components (two-dimensional (2-D) migration) and migration (infiltration) into a matrix (Three-dimesional (3-D) migration) are complex events and the underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood. Here 2-D and 3-D migration were studied by use of seven leukemic T-cell lines representing discrete differentiation stages, a non-leukemic T-cell clone, and normal peripheral blood T cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Extracellular matrix remodelling proteases in acute appendicitis and their impact on appendiceal perforation

    Författare :Anna Solberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; appendicitis; perforation; extracellular matrix; MMP-9; TIMP-1; uPA; PAI-1;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background Appendicitis is associated with varying degradation of extracellular matrix involved in tissue injury. The principal aim of this study was to investigate whether immunoreactive techniques could illustrate the course and severity of appendicitis and separate the different inflammatory grades, phlegmonous, gangrenous and perforated appendicitis, from each other and from uninflamed appendix. 5. 5. Expression and regulation of MMP-1 and MMP-3 in human gingival fibroblasts

    Författare :Helena Domeij; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Matrix metalloproteinases; tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases; gingival fibroblasts; monocytes; periodontal diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of proteolytic enzymes collectively responsible for the metabolism of extra cellular matrix components. Disturbance of the physiological balance between MMPs and their endogenous inhibitors, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), is implicated in several inflammatory diseases characterized by tissue degradation.
