  1. 1. Ischemic Tolerance and Cell Signaling in the Rat Brain

    Författare :Mehrdad Shamloo; Lund Wallenberg Neurocentrum; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; preconditioning; cell death; tyrosine phosphorylation; tolerance; ERK; Calpain; CaMKII; PKC; protection; Brain; ischemia; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A brief period of sublethal ischemia in the brain induces resistance to a subsequent, otherwise lethal ischemic insult. This phenomenon is known as ischemic tolerance or preconditioning. A model of ischemic preconditioning in the rat brain using the two-vessel occlusion model of global cerebral ischemia was established. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of activation of NF-κB by Calmodulin in T-lymphocytes

    Författare :Sreenivasa Rao Oruganti; Thomas Grundström; Eva Sverinson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Calcium; Calmodulin; CaMKII; TCR; Bcl10; NF-κB;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) is a widely expressed family of transcription factors that are involved in a diverse number of processes. These include inflammation or differentiation, survival or apoptosis, and proliferation or cell cycle arrest. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Calmodulin mediated regulation of NF-kappaB in lymphocytes

    Författare :Sofia Edin; Thomas Grundström; Sam Okret; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; calcium; CaM; CaMKII; NF-kappaB; Bc110; immunological synapse; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : NF-κB transcription factors are regulators of a wide spectrum of genes involved in immune responses and inflammation as well as cellular proliferation and survival. Transcriptionally competent NF-κB dimers are retained in the cytoplasm of resting cells by binding to inhibitors of NF-κB (IκBs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Early Information Processing in the Vertebrate Olfactory System : A Computational Study

    Författare :Malin Sandström; Anders Lansner; Dominique Martinez; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olfaction; olfactory system; olfactory bulb; synchronisation; CaMKII; mathematical modelling; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The olfactory system is believed to be the oldest sensory system. It developed to detect and analyse chemical information in the form of odours, and its organisation follows the same principles in almost all living animals - insects as well as mammals. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Computational Modelling of Early Olfactory Processing

    Författare :Malin Sandström; Anders Lansner; Jeanette Hällgren Kotaleski; Thomas Nowotny; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olfaction; olfactory system; olfactory bulb; olfactory receptor neuron; synchronization; CaMKII; mathematical modelling; lukt; luktsystemet; luktbulben; synkronisering; CaMKII; matematisk modellering; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical sensing is believed to be the oldest sensory ability. The chemical senses, olfaction and gustation, developed to detect and analyze information in the form of air- or waterborne chemicals, to find food and mates, and to avoid danger. LÄS MER
