1. Analysis of Adaptation in Human Postural Control
Sammanfattning : The ability to obtain correct balance control information and adjust motor performance appropriately are essential elements in effective postural control. However, functional disorders may affect the reliability of receptor information and ability to carry out corrective motions needed to maintain balance. LÄS MER
2. Postural control and adaptation to threats to balance stability
Sammanfattning : Postural control is the ability to maintain equilibrium and orientation in a gravitational environment. It is dependent on feedback and feedforward mechanisms that generate appropriate corrective movement based on body-sway motion detected primarily by visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive sensory systems. 3. Cervical Radiculopathy. Effects of Surgery, Physiotherapy or Cervical Collar. A prospective, randomised study
Sammanfattning : The efficacy of surgery, physiotherapy or a cervical collar in the treatment of chronic cervicobrachial pain of radicular origin was evaluated in a prospective, randomised study comprising 81 patients of both sexes, 28-64 years of age, referred for possible neurosurgical treatment. After neurological and radiological examination and giving their informed consent, they were randomised to one of the three treatments. LÄS MER
4. Dynamic posturography in evaluating human equilibrium
Sammanfattning : Equilibrium assessment by means of posturography can be performed ina dynamic fashion, meaning that the environment does not remainstable during the test. In the EquiTest dynamic posturography version, the support surface and the visual surround are movable, actively or in response to body movements. LÄS MER
5. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy in dizziness and disequilibrium
Sammanfattning : Dizziness and disequilibrium can be caused by several dysfunctions within the balance system, and are common symptoms especially in higher ages. The general aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effects of vestibular rehabilitation therapy in patients with dizziness and disequilibrium, and to examine the influence of age, vestibular function and psychological aspects on recovery.
