Modern research has indicated that selected patients with acute appendicitis can be treated by antibiotic therapy alone. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Extracellular matrix remodelling proteases in acute appendicitis and their impact on appendiceal perforation

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg : University of Gothenburg

    Författare :Anna Solberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2010]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; appendicitis; perforation; extracellular matrix; MMP-9; TIMP-1; uPA; PAI-1;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Background Appendicitis is associated with varying degradation of extracellular matrix involved in tissue injury. The principal aim of this study was to investigate whether immunoreactive techniques could illustrate the course and severity of appendicitis and separate the different inflammatory grades, phlegmonous, gangrenous and perforated appendicitis, from each other and from uninflamed appendix. 5. 5. Inflammation and prostate carcinogenesis : influence of immune characteristics and early-adulthood exposure to inflammatory conditions on prostate cancer risk

    Detta är en avhandling från Örebro : Örebro University

    Författare :Henrik Ugge; Katja Fall; Sabina Davidsson; Jessica Carlsson; Ove Andrén; Lars Henningsohn; [2019]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; inflammation; Cutibacterium acnes; acne; appendicitis; cytokines; circulating; inflammation marker; IL6; CXCL8;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic inflammation has been implicated in the development of several types of cancer, and evidence from observational and animal studies suggests that it may play a role also in prostate carcinogenesis. Recent observations have brought Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) forward as a possible causative agent in pro-oncogenic prostatic inflammation. LÄS MER
