1. Regulation of NF-κB by Calmodulin
Sammanfattning : Cells experience numerous external signals which they must respond to. Such signals arriving at the cell surface are transduced via various signal transduction pathways and often ultimately result in regulation of transcription. LÄS MER
2. NMR studies on calcium-induced conformational transitions in calmodulin
Sammanfattning : Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used in order to investigate the relationships between structure, dynamics and calcium binding in the intracellular regulatory protein, calmodulin. Calmodulin consists of two similar domains, each binding two calcium ions with positive cooperativity. LÄS MER
3. Regulation of activation of NF-κB by Calmodulin in T-lymphocytes
Sammanfattning : Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) is a widely expressed family of transcription factors that are involved in a diverse number of processes. These include inflammation or differentiation, survival or apoptosis, and proliferation or cell cycle arrest. LÄS MER
4. Shaking the EF-Hand. Dynamics and Ion-Binding to Calmodulin and Calbindin D9k
Sammanfattning : The work described in this thesis represents a biophysical approach, mainly using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, to investigate the impact of magnesium ions on the EF-hand calcium-binding proteins calmodulin and calbindin D9k, as well as the dynamics of these proteins at low calcium levels. The x-ray structure of magnesium-saturated calbindin D9k shows a magnesium ion in only one of the two ion binding sites. LÄS MER
5. Protein Dynamics Studied by NMR Spin Relaxation. Conformational Transitions of a Calmodulin Mutant
Sammanfattning : Binding of calcium to the protein calmodulin leads to molecular reorganization that enables interaction with target peptides and activation of downstream processes. I have studied the dynamics of the calcium-loaded form of a C-terminal calmodulin mutant (E140Q-Tr2C) using NMR spin relaxation experiments. LÄS MER
