6. Conceptual and empirical issues of technological change in the health care sector : Innovation and diffusion of hemodialysis and renal transplantation
Sammanfattning : The present study focuses on one instance of technological change in medical practice; the innovation and diffusion of hemodialysis and renal transplantation (ESRD treatment)- two therapeutic innovations aimed at the treatment of patients suffering from chronic renal failure. The purpose of the thesis is to study the processes by which medical technology is developed imd disseminated. LÄS MER
7. Nucleic acid analysis tools : Novel technologies and biomedical applications
Sammanfattning : Nucleic acids are fundamental molecules of living organisms functioning essentially as the molecular information carriers of life. From how an organism is built to how it responds to external conditions, all of it, can be found in the form of nucleic acid sequences inside every single cell of every life form on earth. LÄS MER

9. Selenium Compounds and Antioxidant Capacity in Bovine Milk. Studies on Glutathione Peroxidase, Bioavailability and Electrochemical Techniques
Sammanfattning : The efficacy and function of antioxidants have been intensively studied in foods and other biological systems in recent decades. This thesis concerns different aspects of the antioxidant properties of bovine milk, with emphasis on measurement of the total antioxidant capacity (TAC), the activity of the selenium-containing glutathione peroxidase (GSHPx), and the bioavailability of selenium from bovine milk in humans.
