  1. 36. Democratisation, Traditional Leadership and Reform Politics in South Africa

    Författare :Annika Mokvist Uggla; Axel Hadenius; Lars Rudebeck; Stein Sundstol Eriksen; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study of democratisation and traditional leadership in South Africa is to understand why government efforts to democratise areas under traditional leadership surprisingly resulted in the maintenance of certain aspects of hereditary rule in official governance. Theory suggests that the answer is found in a dilemma faced by politicians, as they have to undertake reform with a view to advance four potentially contradictory political goals: democracy, state efficiency, state unity and, finally, re-election. Sammanfattning : It is important that ambulances are urgently directed to patients who are in need of immediate help and of quick transportation to a hospital. Because resources are limited, emergency medical dispatch centres (EMD) cannot send ambulances with high priority to all callers. The efficiency of the system is therefore dependent on triage. Sammanfattning : Ever since the computer was introduced some 50 years ago, its role in society has been increasing. From being a tool for scientists and technicians, the computer has become a concern for everyone. Different actors engaged in introducing — or denouncing — this technology, have used many strong words for winning others to the cause. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Computer Simulation of the Neural Control of Locomotion in the Cat

    Författare :Nalin Harischandra; Örjan Ekeberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Locomotion; Computer simulation; Central pattern generator; Muscle activation; Linear transfer functions; Sensory feedback; Neural control; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Locomotion is one of the most important behaviours and requires interaction between sensors at various levels of the nervous system and the limb muscles of an animal. The basic neural rhythm for locomotion in mammals has been shown to arise from local neural networks residing in the spinal cord and these networks are known as central pattern generators (CPGs).
