    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Parameterized linear systems; Krylov subspace methods; preconditioning; tensor decompositions; shifted linear systems; parameterized partial differential equations; time-delay systems; transfer functions; parameter estimation problems; Parameteriserade linjära system; Krylov-metoder; förkonditionering; tensordekomposition; skiftade linjära system; parametriserade partiella differentialekvationer; tidsfördröjningssystem; överföringsfunktioner; parameteruppskattningsproblem; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Solving linear systems of equations is a fundamental problem in engineering. Moreover, applications involving the solution to linear systems arise in the social sciences, business, and economics. Specifically, the research conducted in this dissertation explores solutions to linear systems where the system matrix depends nonlinearly on a parameter. LÄS MER

  2. 2. ALL-OPTICAL CONTROL OF MOLECULAR FUNCTIONS - ENERGY TRANSFER SWITCHING AND INFORMATION PROCESSING

    Författare :Magnus Bälter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; white-light generation; molecular logic; spiropyran; photochromism; DNA-binding; diarylethene; energy transfer; all-photonic; fulgimide; dithienylethene; photoswitch; fluorescence modulation;

    Sammanfattning : In this work, the photoswitching of molecular systems endowed with photochromic functionality have been investigated for the reversible photonic gating of excitation energy transfer (FRET) reactions as well as in application for all-photonic molecular logic. The presented systems involves the integration of photochromic entities within both covalent and non-covalent designs and serves to implicate photonic switching of molecular level phenomena. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical Investigation of Turbulent Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Complex Ducts

    Författare :Masoud Rokni; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SED; WET; GGDH; RNG; RSM; EASM; Low-Reynolds; Non-linear k-e; Heat transfer; Turbulent; Complex ducts; Secondary flows; Temperature invariance; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Th need for a reliable and reasonable accurate turbulence model without specific convergence problem for calculating duct flows in industrial applications has become more evident. In this study a general computational method has been developed for calculating turbulent quantities in any arbitrary three dimensional duct. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Technology Transfer and Technological Capability Building in Informal Firms in Tanzania

    Författare :Astrid Szogs; CIRCLE; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; technology transfer; informal firms; technological capability building; Tanzania;

    Sammanfattning : Technology transfer is important to understand how knowledge is transformed to economic value. Applying a case study approach, this thesis investigates the technology transfer efforts from the University of Dar Es Salaam to indigenous informal SMEs in Tanzania and examines the impact of one of their technology transfer mechanisms on the specific technological capabilities that were acquired at the firm level. 5. 5. Computer Simulation of the Neural Control of Locomotion in the Cat

    Författare :Nalin Harischandra; Örjan Ekeberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Locomotion; Computer simulation; Central pattern generator; Muscle activation; Linear transfer functions; Sensory feedback; Neural control; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Locomotion is one of the most important behaviours and requires interaction between sensors at various levels of the nervous system and the limb muscles of an animal. The basic neural rhythm for locomotion in mammals has been shown to arise from local neural networks residing in the spinal cord and these networks are known as central pattern generators (CPGs).
